A: How we approach God is determined by our attitude which is often inspired by the reason as to why we are seeking Him. When it comes to approaching God in silence, it points to an attitude of reverence and sobriety. The reason we approach Him in this manner is because we need to come into His presence for such purposes as intercession, seeking forgiveness or His will about a serious matter, or in light of pending judgment.
To enter His gate with thanksgiving and praise is to invite His presence into our midst (Psalm 22:3). After all, He inhabits the praises of His people. Many times, when the Lord’s presence comes down because of praise, it ends in souls bowing in silence in awe and worship. When one approaches God in silence, they will often come out rejoicing because God reveals Himself in wondrous ways that causes them to rise up from bended knee in praise, thankfulness, and adoration for He is faithful and just in all He does on behalf of His people.
As you can see silence, and thanksgiving and praise, will always ride on the shirttails of each other. Clearly, the worship of God who is eternal, glorious, and worthy, will bring silence to the seeking heart and praise to the thankful heart.
